Popular Websites
What do Wikipedia and MySpace have in common? Both of these websites are one of the most popular sites in the world. Search engines value incoming links from these sites and treat them a lot better than links from a typical website. The question is whether that is a good thing or not. While Wikipedia and MySpace might have value to its visitors, the question is whether these sites should be treated as authoritative sites which links are more valuable than other sites. I recently heard a person saying that MySpace’s users are predominantly prepubescent and adolescents, while Wikipedia’s editors are mainly teenagers. He later added that because of this these sites should not be treated a lot better than other sites as there is no reason for it.
