Overhead Crane Maintenance

April 2, 2015 | Comments Off on Overhead Crane Maintenance

If you own or operate a business that utilizes overhead or bridge cranes, then you should be familiar with some of the maintenance procedures that need to be done regularly. There are times when you or your employees are just too busy to perform these checks yourself. During these highly busy periods, it may be easier to check specialty repair sites like www.ProservAnchor.com for someone to come out and perform these checks for you.

It is important that you ensure your crane operator is performing daily maintenance and safety checks on all crane parts prior to beginning any work. Much of this preventive maintenance will be dictated by the crane manufacturer, but there are some things that are common for most overhead and bridge cranes.

Area Checkout
This is a chance for your crane operator to observe and repair the area around the crane. Watch for things like warning signs, workers in the way and that the load capacity does not exceed the crane’s limit.

Equipment Check
This is when your operator does a quick visual inspection of the moving parts. Keep an eye on things like broken or loose parts around the hoist and trolley. Next he will have to verify things such as push buttons working properly, the hook hoisting normally and rotating freely.

Remember, for more advanced inspections or repairs, always call a professional. This will save time, money and stress.
